Tax Sales are on Tuesday, January 19, 2016, the day following Martin Luther King Day. Since we are closed on Dr. King's birthday, please make arrangements to pay delinquent taxes by 4:00 pm on Friday, January 15. At this time, only cash and cashier's checks are being received by our office for delinquent tax payments.
2014 tax bills payable in 2015 should be mailed during the week of September 7, 2015 following Labor Day. The tentative due date for the first installment will be October 16.
Due to circumstances beyond our control, it appears that tax season will be late again this year. We are therefore extending the period for pre-payment of this year's taxes. For more information, call (618)687-7350.
Mobile Home Tax bills have been prepared and mailed. For your convenience, multiple billings were mailed together. Deadline for payment is July 1.

JacksonCounty taxpayers are invited to participate in the Monthly Prepay Program for tax bills due in 2015. Be sure to contact our office at 618-687-7350 for information on completing a registration form. This registration form is necessary to become involved in the Monthly Prepay Program.

After registering you will receive coupons which must be sent along with payments.
We are now accepting prepay payments for the upcoming tax cycle, you may send in your payments along with one of the coupons at any time. The coupons must accompany any payment you send. Remember, you do not have to send the exact amount of coupon, we will accept any amount that you want to send.
The Prepayment Program runs from January until June 15th. Coupons received after June 15th will be returned to taxpayer.
DUTIES OF TREASURER'S OFFICE
The Jackson County Treasurer's Office is the banker for Jackson County. Upon receipt of the collector books from the county clerk, the county collector prepares tax bills for all real estate taxes within the county and mails them to owners of record. The distribution of tax receipts are then made to the various taxing districts during the collection period. Along with the collection of real estate taxes, the county treasurer also collects the mobile home local service tax and administrates for the Department of Revenue the Senior Citizens Real Estate Tax Deferral Program.
In addition, the Treasurer's Office is responsible for refunding of duplicate or overpayments, issuing of error refunds, annual and scavenger tax sales for delinquent properties, the accounting and auditing of collections and distributions.
The Treasurer's Office also keeps the records and approve the investments for many of the accounts needed for the county's general operations.
