Special Notice

The Jackson County Jail’s visitation system is being replaced and upgraded. We will be performing this conversion the week of August 10th beginning at 0800. The project should be completed by August 18th at approximately 1800 hours. During this time there will be no inmate visitation. The inmate visitation scheduler will be available for use on Friday August 14th @ 1200. Visitors will be able to register for visitation on the scheduler for inmate visits that will occur after Tuesday August 18th at 1800 hours. The visitation system will be operational as of August 18th at 1800 hours. Visitation will return to the regular schedule at this time.

The county sheriff manages a diverse staff of professional law enforcement personnel and a modern jail facility in Murphysboro, Illinois.  

The Sheriff's Department is responsible for keeping the peace, suppressing riots, breaches of peace, and the apprehending of criminals.

The Sheriff's Department offers a variety of services for the citizens of the county with crime prevention and community services being the primary responsibilities of the department.

Sheriff's officers serve all writs, warrants, summonses, orders and decrees.

The department also offers 24-hour emergency service through officers on patrol and officers monitoring the front desk.

Visiting hours are from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. everday.  Inmates are limited to one 30 minute visit per week and visits will be conducted via the video visitation system.
